There’s only one more month of winter left, yet I find myself knocking back hot drinks constantly in an effort to keep warm.  In order to maximize the health benefits while still maintaining the utmost flavor, I decided to create this recipe.  This Matcha Ginger Turmeric Latte recipe contains THREE superfoods, all harmoniously uniting to make this milky concoction the stuff of superfood dreams!

Matcha on its own, teems with healthy goodness but adding turmeric and ginger takes it over the top in benefits.  Turmeric is a proven antioxidant, reducing free radical damage in your body.  It also contains curcumin, which is a proven anti-inflammatory.  Turmeric is also good for your brain and heart.  It may even help with cancer, arthritis and Alzheimer’s disease.  It doesn’t just keep your body healthy but your mind too, having positive affects on depression and even aging.  Similar to Turmeric, ginger may have positive effects on arthritis, cancer and Alzheimer’s disease.  It is a well known remedy for an upset stomach and can help with indigestion and other digestion related issues.  It’s also great for controlling your blood sugar and cholesterol levels.  The active ingredient gingerol is also fantastic for fighting off those nasty cold and flu bugs.  Keep your immune system strong with this ‘triple threat’ super latte!

Skipping the coffee and adding this Matcha Ginger Turmeric Latte to your morning will set you on course for the day.

Yield: 1 cup

Ingredients:

1 cup milk (any type) (sub plant based milk to keep it vegan)
1 tsp Organic Matcha No. 2 Energy
½ – ¾ tsp ginger powder*
½ tsp turmeric
1 tsp Mielbio Organic Forest Honey (or any good quality honey) (sub maple syrup for a vegan option)

Method:

  1. Add all the ingredients into a small pot
  2. Simmer on low heat, continuously whisking
  3. Make sure it is well combined
  4. Pour into a mug or cup
  5. Enjoy the healthful benefits of this Matcha Ginger Turmeric Latte

*Note – adjust the amount of ginger depending on the strength of your ginger powder and your personal taste.

This Matcha Ginger Turmeric Latte is so comforting and full of healing properties that I like to make it for my husband whenever he’s feeling a little under the weather and it perks him right up!  This warming drink not only makes a good breakfast drink but it is great for a mid-afternoon pick-me-up when 3.30-itis hits.
