Non-Alcoholic Matcha Mojito – A Healthy Cocktail (As Seen Live on NHK Asaichi!)

This Non-alcoholic Matcha Mojito is my go-to cocktail for summer. This delicious, healthy cocktail will be featured on NHK Asaichi on the July 11 because it’s one of my favorite drinks and it’s really easy to make.

I like to live a healthy lifestyle and I truly believe in enjoying “everything in moderation”. The great thing about this non-alcoholic matcha mojito recipe is that because there is no alcohol or refined sugar, I can enjoy it completely guilt free!

The Mojito originally hails from Havana Cuba and is known as the “Cuban High Ball”. Mojitos are usually made with white rum, sugar cane juice, lime juice, mint and is finished with soda water. The citrus and mint create a flavorful combination that just reminds me of summer!

The matcha powder adds a distinctly Japanese twist to this refreshing cocktail. The matcha adds a slew of health benefits to the non-alcoholic matcha mojito along with a fresh and natural taste. The best matcha for this healthy cocktail recipe is HealthyTOKYO Organic Matcha Classic, because it is ceremony level, stone-ground matcha grown in Western Japan, and did I mention it’s completely organic?

In place of the sugar cane syrup, I use agave or maple syrup for a bit of natural sweetness.

Pulling inspiration from my Canadian roots, I decided to replace the soda water with ginger ale and it gives this non-alcoholic matcha mojito a bit of a flavor kick!

Non-alcoholic Matcha Mojito

Calories per cocktail: 45
Yield: Two 4 oz drinks


2 oz ginger ale
4-5 mint leaves, plus few for garnish
1 lime, juiced
1 tbsp agave or maple syrup
1 tsp Organic Matcha No. 2 Energy
Crushed ice


  1. In a cocktail shaker, muddle the mint leaves, organic matcha, lime juice and sweetener.
  2. Mix this until the matcha and your choice of sweetener are incorporated.
  3. Shake the non-alcoholic matcha mojito mixture with ice and it pour into two glasses.
  4. Top the cocktail with ginger ale and garnish it with mint leaves.

Enjoy this non-alcoholic matcha mojito wherever you are and you’ll feel like you’re in Havana!
