Waikoloa Beach Resort – Popular places to stay and eat on the Big Island of Hawaii

The Waikoloa Beach resort is a popular destination for places to stay and eat on the Big Island of Hawaii.  There are two major golf courses, restaurants, the Marriott, the Hilton, shopping and of course a sandy beach for relaxation and water sports.

You can also find various condominiums in this area including peaceful Waikoloa Colony Villas. This is a beautiful property nestled between the golf course and the historic King’s Trail. The resort has two large pools with Jacuzzis, tennis courts, a gym, BBQ facilities and more. It is like having a home away from home, cooking in (or eating at one of the many restaurants nearby), relaxing in your living room and hanging out at the pool without the crowds of the hotels, all while still located in a vacation destination of your dreams. There is a wonderful condo unit at Colony Villas, with brand new hardwood floors and all the amenities. A cozy island vacation rental like this can offer much more than a hotel room and often takes a smaller hit to your pocketbook.

As a guy born and raised on this Island, every once in a while I get this craving for a nice meal on the ocean and more often than not Lava Lava Beach Club in the Waikoloa Beach Resort is the place that comes to mind. Lava Lava only recently opened its doors in May of 2012 and has since grown into one of the most popular dinner spots on the Kohala Coast. In fact it is the only place on the beach in Waikoloa to dine, enjoy music and watch a beautiful sunset.

Lava Lava is so popular that it is best to make a reservation (808) 769-LAVA (5282), and believe me its worth it. From the moment you walk in friendly service is paramount and it only gets better with a full bar, tropical drinks and local beers on tap. Some of the entrees come out sizzling making you wish you had ordered whatever that is. But not to worry, everything is tasty and the music, sunset and fire-pits in the sand bring the whole experience together making for a memorable evening.

Lava Lava is also very easy to find, but in case you have trouble:

Enter the Waikoloa Beach Resort, go past the Queens shops and take your next left towards Anaehoomalu Bay or A-Bay as some people call it. Go in about one quarter mile and you will see signs for the restaurant and parking.

Enjoy the Aloha hospitality!
