About the product
These green peas are certified organic by ICS Japan. Green peas contain vitamin A, as well as lutein and iron, and their natural sweetness makes them a great addition to all types of dishes. Because the peas were grown without agricultural chemicals and cultivated using organic fertilizer, occasional variations in size may occur.
Green peas come in ziplock bags for easy storage. Sugarlady’s vegetables are harvested in season and then frozen immediately in order to ensure the highest possible nutritional value and best flavor, and because our vegetables are blanched before freezing, they remain vibrant and undamaged when frozen for long periods. Even if the green peas remain frozen for months, once defrosted they will still have their beautiful bright green color.
How to prepare
When using the green peas, you can take out the portion you need without defrosting the package. When using in salad, place peas in boiling water and boil briefly before use. Once thawed, the peas can also be added as-is to all sorts of vegetable, rice, or meat dishes as an eye-catching garnish, or used as an ingredient in butter stir-fry, soup, or pilaf. When using as an ingredient, the green peas can be added frozen just before the dish finishes cooking, and will thaw to perfection with no need to worry about overcooking. Green peas can also be used to make mame gohan, which is simply green peas mixed with seasoned rice. Though it has few components, mame gohan is quite delicious and is frequently eaten in Japan in the springtime.
