A blend of Gouda cheese and Steppen cheese from Germany, mixed with several types of spices makes a great topping for various dishes.
Gouda cheese comes from the region of Gouda in the Netherlands and it represents about 60% of cheese production in the country. The more aged, the more mild the taste and flavor become, and it mels well when heated. It is one of the common cheeses used in so-called “Processed Cheese”, along with cheddar cheese. Gouda cheese contains Vitamin B1, B6, B12, E, Magnesium, Calcium among others.
Steppen cheese is often refered to as the German Mozzarella although fresh Italian Mozzarela is soft, Steppen is semi-hard in texture and usually contains more salt than Mozzarella. As it is mild in flavor and melts well when heated, many dishes that calls for Mozzarella can be replaced with Steppen cheese.
Mixture of these 2 cheeses makes this a convenient, versatile, flavorful addtition to many dishes.
