Dr. Mika Washio was born and raised in the Kansai region of Japan. She studied at Hyogo College of Medicine and conducted her residency at Osaka Medical University. She specialized in Cardiology during and after her residency. Her next assignment was at the Psychiatric Department of Kaede Kokorno Hospital in Osaka as an internist and cardiologist. After taking a break to raise her children, she was employed at Arima Kogen Hospital, a 500 bed facility in Kobe, as an internist and cardiologist. From 2010 to 2012, Dr. Washio lived in Canada. She returned to Japan to work in Japan NPO International Medicine Information Center. It was here that she spent several years as a medical travel doctor consulting and accompanying patients for medical transport across borders. Dr. Washio later decided to accompany her husband with their family to the Netherlands for his job transfer. In Europe she spent her time working in a drug research facility. Upon returning to Japan, she opened International Healthcare Clinic and is delighted to be working with the international community in Japan.

Yukie Nakagawa was born and raised in Tokyo. She lived in Tasmania, Australia as an exchange student and later studied economics at Aoyamagakuin University.

Yukie also lived and studied in France. She is fluent in Japanese, English and French.

Since joining International Healthcare Clinic she has been dedicated in applying herself in intercultural and language skills for the benefit of international patients in Japan.

Yukie is the first person patients meet when they visit the clinic. Upon your arrival, Yukie will be eager to answer any initial questions and to assist in filling out the required forms.

Takashi Nagaosa was born and raised in Japan. He has spent several years living and studying overseas in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and Jefferson City Tennessee, USA. Takashi later returned to Japan where he attended Tokai University and graduated with a degree in nursing.

He has worked in the General Medicine, Cardioloy and Rehabilitation departments of Tokai University Hospital before joining International Healthcare Clinic in Shinbashi, Tokyo.

Takashi is fluent in Japanese and English.

Ami Fukuoka is from Hyogo prefecture in Western Japan. She has worked in the intensive care unit of a hospital, applying her nursing skills for the support of medical procedures and treatment of a wide range of diseases for infants, children and adults.

She moved to the Philippines where she utilized her training for medical treatment of primarily Japanese patients. Her work also extended to medical interpretation, patient consultation and handling of insurance procedures. Upon her return from the Philippines she joined the Team at International Healthcare Clinic.

Ami is fluent in Japanese and English.

Conveniently located just four minutes away from Shinbashi station in Tokyo is International Health Care Clinic, headed by an English-speaking primary care doctor.

It is refreshing to find a completely bilingual clinic in Japan. All of the staff, from the receptionist, nurses and doctor speak fluent English and have experience living, working and studying outside of Japan. Their obvious team approach to patient care is comforting for all who visit, especially for patients from overseas who are more accustomed to a consultative approach from their primary care doctor.

The clinic is headed by Dr. Mika Washio, an English-speaking primary care doctor who became interested in medicine at an early age, influenced by her father, a well-known psychiatrist in the Kansai area.

After graduating from Osaka Medical University, she has worked at both a general hospital and university hospital in Japan gaining extensive experience with the treatment of numerous diseases as well as a focus on psychiatric disorders and treatment. Dr. Washio has also lived in Canada for about two years and upon returning to Japan she worked as a physician for the international transport of patients.

With this varied and unusual international experience, Dr. Washio has developed a great understanding of the preferences and requirements of overseas patients. It is this expertise she and her talented staff bring to International Healthcare Clinic.
