The Royal Palace Tea Canister teams the simplicity of nature with the opulence of real gold inlay. This type of tea caddy is used for Usu-cha or thin tea. In Japanese it is called a Natsume because it is made from the Red Date (Jujube) tree.
Like all the Matcha Implements and Tea Ware featured in the HealthyTOKYO Matcha Collection, all Cha-Ire are proudly Made in Japan for an authentic matcha experience.
Cha-Ire or tea canisters are classified by three qualities:
- Place of origin
- The artist
- The style or coating
The Royal Palace Tea Canister is handcrafted in Ishikawa prefecture. The elaborate design on this Cha-Ire was meticulously hand-drawn by Hoshin Kawakami. The Royal Palace Tea Canister was coated in a Yamanaka lacquer, while still displaying the natural beauty of the Red Date wood. This type of lacquer coating is unique to Ishikawa prefecture. The natural grain of the wood adds contrast to the gold design surrounding the Royal Palace Tea Canister.
This designer matcha tea ware item makes a beautiful gift for any matcha enthusiast.
