About the product
Quick and easy edamame – simply thaw and enjoy! Edamame of all kinds are great as a snack or an appetizer, and these edamame are even more delicious than most.
These edamame were developed from the ryokukou variety of edamame, and have a lot of sweetness and umami. When raw, they have 30% more sucrose compared with previous types of edamame. That can be increased by another 15% by keeping processing times short. Our edamame are processed within six hours after harvesting. In processing they are blanched, then soaked in salt water and frozen; making them a cinch to prepare and serve. With our customers’ health in mind, salt is used in moderation in preparing these edamame. Contains about 100 pods per 300g.
How to prepare
These edamame can be thawed naturally, beneath running water, or in the microwave. To thaw naturally, take out the amount of edamame you wish to use without defrosting the bag, let them sit at room temperature for about one hour, and enjoy. The amount of time required will vary somewhat depending on the temperature of the room. To thaw beneath running water, soak the frozen edamame in running water for 3 to 4 minutes. Then drain them, dry them off, and enjoy. To thaw in the microwave, take the frozen edamame from their bag, distribute them at an even depth on a plate, and cover with plastic wrap. Microwave approximately as follows: In a 500W microwave, cook 100g for 1 minute 50 seconds, 250g for 3 minutes 30 seconds, and 500g for 7 minutes. In a 600W microwave, cook 100g for 1 minute 30 seconds, 250g for 3 minutes, and 500g for 6 minutes. These cooking times may be used for reference, but actual cooking times will vary depending on the model of microwave. Please adjust accordingly. After opening the packages for the first time, please use the remaining edamame as soon as possible.
