About the product

Yuzu is a citrus fruit, popular in cooking in East Asian countries. In appearance, it is somewhat like a lemon. Yuzu kosho (literally, “yuzu pepper”) is zest from unripe yuzu, blended with green chili pepper and table salt; resulting in an invigorating combination of yuzu scent and chili pepper heat.

The yuzu in our yuzu kosho comes from Kyushu, Japan’s southern island. It is thought by some that Kyushu was where yuzu kosho was first created and eaten.

Yuzu kosho is a highly versatile condiment that can be used on everything from sashimi and yakitori to steak and noodles, but can be difficult to make from scratch due to the scarcity in some areas of fresh yuzu in supermarkets. Our frozen yuzu kosho allows you to enjoy it anytime, anywhere!

How to prepare

Thaw the yuzu kosho in its bag beneath running water, just before eating. Yuzu kosho be used as a condiment with a wide variety of foods, including noodles, steak, yakitori (grilled chicken), sashimi, gyoza (Japanese dumplings), hot pot, soup, pickled vegetables, and dressing.
