About the product
Chigiri-age is a type of fish cake (kamaboko), made using colorful ingredients. Kamaboko is made from surimi, which is fish (or, in other cases, meat) that has been minced and then mashed into a paste. This fish cake is fried and, in addition to walleye pollock, includes domestically produced vegetables and natural hijiki seaweed (from Kyushu).
Many other commercially available products use synthetic additives such as preservatives, coloring, chemical seasonings, or polymerized phosphate. This item is made with surimi (minced and mashed fish) of walleye pollock with no phosphorus, giving you safety and peace of mind. Sugarlady’s fish paste products, including its colorful chigiri-age, are made using carefully chosen fresh ingredients and are free of chemical or artificial additives. Phosphate is used in other products for texture, but can negatively impact the body’s levels of calcium if too much is eaten. Sugarlady uses specialized production processes to create the benefits of phosphate without the detriments.
How to prepare
Thaw the chigiri-age in the refrigerator. Once thawed, these bite-sized fish cakes can be eaten as-is. They will become still more delicious if warmed lightly in a toaster oven or microwave.
