HealthyTOKYO’s new blog series features interviews with people who have used HealthyTOKYO’s products about their lifestyles and experience with CBD.
This time, we talked to Lili from Sweden, who works as a freelance model and influencer in Japan. She makes her appearances in a myriad of media such as advertisements, magazines, the web, among others. With a very friendly and tender personality, she is a beautiful woman not only in her appearance but also in her heart. Although she lives a healthy life as a model, she developed celiac disease about three years ago, and she is still suffering from all of the ailments that come with the disease.
Lili has been monitoring the effects of CBD for some time because she wants to improve her chronic physical condition, and has decided to try HealthyTOKYO’s CBD oil for the first time.
Can you tell us more about your illness?
I’ve been very ill for the last three years. Some of the symptoms I developed were abdominal pain, nausea, and fatigue, and my physical health considerably weakened. I finally went to the hospital a year ago to get a health check-up and learned that I had celiac disease. This is an autoimmune disease where ingestion of gluten, a protein contained mainly in wheat, barley, and rye, attacks the body from within and makes you very sick. My symptoms were very severe.
Did you already have some knowledge about CBD at that time?
I knew a little bit about CBD but when I read somewhere that CBD could be used to treat symptoms like nausea and inflammation, I was hoping that it might work to alleviate my symptoms too. In particular, I was deeply troubled from the lack of sleep because of my ailments, and since I knew that CBD is often used for a good night’s sleep, I decided to give it a try.
Can you share how your first CBD experience was?
I have used CBD oil sold by other companies and I did not feel any effects at that time. When I think about it, the CBD contents in that product were much lower than that of HealthyTOKYO’s CBD oil. My intake was also pretty low, so I guess it made sense that I did not feel the intended effects of CBD.
When I first used HealthyTOKYO’s CBD oil, I’d put a few drops under my tongue before going to bed at night. After that, I felt a little more relaxed and managed to sleep well, and I think that it was because of CBD. Actually, I tried several drinks infused with CBD at HealthyTOKYO’s stores at Harajuku and Haneda Airport before. I remember feeling the effects of relaxation at that time as well.
To be honest, I was a little worried about my intake when I first consumed HealthyTOKYO’s oil since it has a relatively high CBD content. I kept thinking whether it’d be OK to be taking this much. I had a drink that contained 15mg of CBD at the cafe but I was relieved to learn that there’s no issue with taking that much of an amount.
How are you using CBD oil now?
Now, before going to bed, I put about nine to twelve drops of HealthyTOKYO CBD oil 6% yuzu under my tongue. I adjust the amount according to how tired I feel that day, and I’ve been getting a good night’s sleep lately and am definitely feeling the benefits of CBD. I don’t wake up in the middle of the night anymore as compared to before, and I feel like I can fall into a deep restful sleep now.
What do you think of the yuzu flavored CBD oil?
It has the best aroma! Yuzu is my favorite citrus fruit and so I thought it was such a perfect match to be paired with CBD oil. I have also tried Yuzu Matcha Latte with CBD several times at HealthyTOKYO’s cafe and I simply love it. I also want to try it at home together with coffee or tea.
How do you maintain your health and beautiful skin?
It’s hard to see in the photo, but I actually have a lot of skin problems. I’m also suffering from acne. I go to a dermatologist to get an IPL and do chemical peeling to take care of my skin. Meals must be gluten-free so I guess cooking my meals entirely at home has helped me to maintain good health. I also work out, do yoga, and do stretches at home.
Do you think CBD has an effect on beauty and skincare?
Yes. I’ve heard that CBD is good for treating skin irritation such as acne so I think CBD would be able to help in that aspect too. It’s extremely important for me as a model since I have to always keep my skin clean and clear. I also think CBD helps to maintain your mental well-being too as it relieves stress (which can cause an increase in acne), so I think CBD can be used to maintain your skin. Getting good sleep is also very important in maintaining good skin as well, and as CBD is also used to get a good night’s sleep, it will have indirect positive effects on maintaining good skin.
When do you want to use CBD oil in your lifestyle?
If possible, I want to use it all day long (laughs). But I want to use it especially when I experience a lot of nausea. It’s really good for relaxing before doing yoga. I’ve also heard that it suppresses inflammation, so I think it’s a good idea to use it to recover after a workout. As my symptoms fluctuate a lot, I’m thinking of continuing to take CBD everyday.
Lili candidly shared about her illness and thoughts on beauty. HealthyTOKYO hopes that CBD will help make her daily life healthier and more beautiful. Thank you very much, Lili for agreeing to this interview!
