About the product

The gingko nuts, shiitake, kuwai and carrots in this combination of vegetables have been diced to match the size of the edamame so that the whole mixture retains an even consistency. These five vegetables can be used in a wide variety of Japanese, Chinese, and Western dishes, from soups and stews to stir-fry and tempura.

This mixture comprises of richly hued green, yellow, white, and orange vegetables which have been frozen separately, so you can take out just the portion you need, and which contain all sorts of nutrients; such as the vitamin A in the carrots and the manganese in edamame.

Sugarlady’s produce is harvested in season and then frozen immediately in order to ensure the highest possible nutritional value and best flavor, and because our produce is blanched before freezing, it remains vibrant and undamaged when frozen for long periods. Even if our vegetables remain frozen for months, once defrosted they will still have their beautiful and vibrant color.

How to prepare

Without defrosting the package, take out the portion of vegetables you will be using, heat and eat with sauce or use in stir-fry, tempura, soup, or chawanmushi. The vegetables can be added frozen when stir-fry or soups are nearly finished cooking, and will thaw to perfection without fear of overcooking. To make chawanmushi, a type of savory Japanese custard that uses egg, vegetables, meats, and broth, first cook and season your meat, then strain your egg and mix with broth, soy sauce, and other seasonings, and finally put your egg-broth mixture, vegetables, and meat into small bowls, cover with foil, and steam.
