About the product
Miso is a paste made using fermented soybeans, and dengaku means grilling tofu and other foods that have been painted with a sauce containing miso. Dengaku miso sauce can be used with tofu, konnyaku, taro, eggplant, or thick fried tofu. Add some vinegar and it can also be used to dress chopped seafood or vegetables, or used with foods such as boiled tofu, tonkatsu, or shigiyaki (a dish made with eggplant and, in the past, snipe meat).
The word “dengaku” in this product’s name comes from a term used to describe the shape of skewered foods. It is said that the skewered foods may be called “dengaku” because they resemble the Takaashi Dance, a dance done atop poles thrust into fields as part of a now primarily-archaic variety of ritual celebrations called Dengaku.

How to prepare
Take out the number of bags you need, and defrost by letting them sit at room temperature or beneath running water. The dengaku miso sauce comes in small bags, and so can be defrosted quickly. Once a bag has been defrosted, it should be used in its entirety. This product has a high sugar content, and will not completely harden even in the freezer.
