About the product
Glutinous and chewy bread from Italy. It is often enjoyed dipped in olive oil, and/or topped with various herbs. In Italy, there are various kinds of focaccia, made with olives and rosemary.
Focaccia bread is rich in selenium which works for anti-aging and anti-oxidization within the body, and molybdenum which helps break down sugars and fats within the body, respectively.
How to prepare
Thaw in the refrigerator (about 8 hours) or thaw at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours. It can be served as is but it is more delicious when served warm. To heat in nicrowave (500W, 600W), use 20 to 30 seconds per piece of focaccia. In toaster oven at 1000W, pre-heat it put the thawed focaccia for 2 minutes.Focaccia is a flat bread, so it can be used as the pizza base. Top it with pizza sauce or white sauce and variety of toppings such as pepperoni, sausages, tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, olives, etc. If there are left over bread, focaccia is great for making Pappa al Pomodoro, a rustic Tuscan bread porrige/soup. To make Pappa al Pomodoro, sautee diced onions and garlic with olive oil, add soup stock, bay leaves and herbs like oregano and basil. Cut the leftover focaccia into cubes and fry them in a pan with olive oil. Add the cubed bread into the soup mixture and blend. Add salt and pepper to taste.
