About the product
Fresh horse mackerel (also known as “Spanish Jack”) is skinned and filleted for sashimi. Kyshu waters are cold, with strong currents, making the ideal environment for one of the tastiest fish in Japan. Belly bone has been removed, but please watch out for small bones because some bones may still be left inside. For quality retention, it is packaged with a deoxidizing agent. An exquisite, fresh-from-the-sea flavor is guaranteed because we quickly freeze fish in season, right after harvesting.
Horse mackerel is an excellent source of a variety of nutrients including vitamin A, B, and E, calcium, potassium and taurine. It has been shown benefits in children’s growth, maintaining health and for beautiful skin. It is also a rich in unsaturated omega three fatty acids such as EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) and DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).
As Sugarlady’s fish and shellfish are processed right after harvest, you can taste the fresh-from-the-sea flavor. A benefit of frozen seafood is the stable price that is not affected by seasonal changes.
How to prepare
To defrost, run it under cold water with product still in package, about 15 minutes. After thawing, take it out of the package, slice as you like and serve as sashimi, enjoy with soy sauce and wasabi. For your convenience, all the preparation is done. You can serve it quickly for appetizers or snack for your sake. Because it is already prepared, you will have minimum waste as well. It’s extra delicious when served with grated ginger, green onions, or Japanese basil. You can also enjoy it as sushi topping or by frying them with panko.
