About the product
Kabocha is a type of pumpkin that is very popular in both traditional and modern Japanese cooking. It can be found in stews and salads, as filling for croquettes, or even as French fries. Its flavor is somewhat sweet.
This soup was made using Ebisu-variety kabocha pumpkins from Hokkaido (the Ebisu variety is one of the most commonly used). The cream and milk used in the soup give it a thick, rich texture. This soup does not require diluting.
How to prepare
The kabocha pumpkin soup can be boiled in its bag. Place the soup, still in its unopened bag and still frozen, in boiling water. Boil for 10 to 12 minutes. This soup does not require diluting, but milk and fresh cream may be added to taste if a milder flavor is desired. If the bag comes into direct contact with the rim of the pot, or if the bag is sticking out or hanging out of the pot, the bag can melt; creating holes in its surface. Please boil with care. Use plenty of caution when opening the bag, as the bag and its contents will have become very hot.
