About the product

Edamame is green soybeans, and they are harvested from the tree while young and has gained its popularity in many of the Western countries in recent years for its nutrition not to mention the affordability and the snackability.

Soybeans are commonly called “Beef of the Field” in Japan due to its abundance in protein. Edamame is also rich in various vitamins, calcium, iron, fiber, as well as beta-carotene and vitamin C, which are not contained much in matured soybeans.

In Japan, edamame is often served as a snack when alcoholic beverages such as beer and sake are served. This is because Edamame’s protein contains methionine, which is a type of amino acid that helps break down alcohol, promotes the function of the liver and prevents hang-over.

How to prepare

Sugarlady’s Shumai can be prepared either by steaming in a steamer or by microwave oven. When using a steamer, place Shumai pieces on a steamer prepared with a paper cooking sheet, so Shumai skin would not stick to the bottom after heating. Steam for about 8 to 10 minutes over high heat. When using a microwave oven, moisten the frozen Shumai pieces by letting the water run quickly over them, and place them on to a plate. Cover with a plastic wrap and heat it in the microwave oven per the following; 500w – 3 pieces / 1 min 30 sec, 6 pieces /2 min 30 sec, 10 pieces / 4 min 30 sec. 600w – 3 pieces / 1 min 20 sec, 6 pieces / 2 min 20 sec, 10 pieces / 4 min
