About the product
Known for their vivid color and pleasing texture, snow peas make an attractive addition to salads, stir-fry, miso soup, and other dishes. There are several theories as to how snow peas got their name, one of which is that snow peas are able to grow even in cold and snowy weather.
These snow peas have been selected for softness and uniformity of size, and are all 5 to 7 cm in length. Snow peas are one type of pea that can be eaten in the pod, but the strings must first be removed; a tedious process. Luckily, our snow peas come with their strings already removed, saving you valuable time! The snow peas also come in convenient, easy-to-use ziplock bags.
Sugarlady’s produce is harvested in season and then frozen immediately in order to ensure the highest possible nutritional value and best flavor, and because our produce is blanched before freezing, it remains vibrant and undamaged when frozen for long periods. Even if our snow peas remain frozen for months, once defrosted they will still have their vibrant green color.
How to prepare
To use in salad, eat with sauce, or add to other dishes as a colorful decoration, boil the snow peas briefly in lightly salted hot water. Then, place them in cold water, and dry them off. When using in stir-fry, stew, or soup, add the snow peas frozen when you are almost finished cooking. Snow peas make a great addition to miso soup, a traditional Japanese soup made with fermented soybean paste, tofu, green onions, and seaweed.
